1) DISCUSS burn statistics and common etiologies in the pediatric population; 2) REVIEW the anatomy & the basic pathophysiology of burns; 3) DISCUSS the initial evaluation and immediate resuscitative measures for a burned child; 4) RECOGNIZE indications for referral of a burned child to a regional burn center based on established criteria from the American Burn Association; 5) DESCRIBE essential components of outpatient management for small burns.
