Our mission

Enhancing patient outcomes & quality of healthcare

MECOP is dedicated to advancing medical knowledge and improving the quality of healthcare delivery through targeted education.  The purpose of our CME program is to enhance the clinical competency, knowledge and performance of our learners, resulting in improved patient outcomes and overall health in the communities they serve.

Our history

The industry standard in partnering with organizations for CME events

Formed and accredited in 1986, MECOP was originally designed as a small non-profit organization to accredit CME programs in Northwest Florida and to help physicians meet the relicensure requirements passed by the Florida Board of Medicine.

MECOP’s continued growth and success has allowed it to extend its mission beyond Northwest Florida, with partnerships throughout the US and beyond.  The growing network of partnerships has expanded MECOP’s mission as an integral part of health care teams that work to integrate CME as a bridge to quality improvement, practice improvement and improvements in health outcomes.

Operations

MECOP is directed by an active physician Board of Directors. CME compliance is also physician-led by MECOP’s Curriculum Committee. Visit the Team page to learn more about our leadership.

Funding

MECOP is a 501c3 non-profit organization funded by fees for accrediting CME activities, as well as fees for partnership and licensing services.

Accreditation

MECOP is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide CME credits nationally. ACCME’s accreditation seeks to assure the medical community and the public that MECOP provides physicians with relevant, effective, practice-based continuing medical education.

ACCME employs a rigorous, multilevel process for evaluating institutions’ continuing medical education programs according to the high accreditation standards adopted by all seven ACCME member organizations. Visit our Partner page for more information.
