Statins and Cholesterol
At the conclusion, the participant should be able to:
1) DISCUSS the impact of new statin therapies on cardiovascular health; 2) IDENTIFY the senior consumer of pharmaceuticals; 3) DISCUSS the physiologic basis of increased potential for toxicity of drugs in the elderly; 4) DISCUSS how sensory, cognitive and environmental changes have a role in determining the safety of medications in seniors; 5) DESCRIBE specific examples of drugs in which there is a narrow therapeutic window with increased risk of adverse events. Questions and answers will allow for audience participation.
