FCOM 2025: Lessons Learned Treating Sleep Apnea Patients
Sleep Apnea
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) presents with a wide spectrum of anatomic and physiologic challenges, requiring careful evaluation and tailored management strategies. This session will draw on clinical experience and emerging research to highlight lessons learned in diagnosing and treating OSA patients. Faculty will review how to identify and differentiate the site versus level of obstruction, assess disease severity, and recognize both anatomic vulnerabilities and compensatory mechanisms that shape patient outcomes. In addition, new and evolving therapy options will be presented with a focus on practical considerations and patient selection, encouraging participants to remain open to innovations in care.
Following the presentation, the participant will be able to:
1. Contrast site versus level of obstruction for OSA patients
2. Describe new therapy options
3. Describe anatomic vulnerabilities and physiologic compensation mechanics
4. Determine disease severity
