The Oral Mucosa: Gateway to the Immune System

This session will introduce the attendee to the different ways to access the immune system for the purpose of allergy immunotherapy. After attending the session, the attendee will be able to: 1. Describe the unique qualities of the oral cavity mucosa 2. Discuss the process by which exposure of allergenic proteins to this tissue will bring about desensitization to food and airborne allergens.
