SHH Special Grand Rounds: Medical Errors the Florida Requirement

Greenhut Auditorium 2-hour Florida required Medical Errors course for physicians. Sessions will be held as follows-6:30 - 8:30am and 11:30 - 1:30pm. Speaker: Kerry Johnson, Founding Partner and Chief Innovation Officer at Healthcare Performance Improvement (HPI) At the conclusion, the participant should be able to:

1) DESCRIBE the attributes of a Highly Reliable Organization (HRO) and their application in high-risk, high-consequence environments; 2) DESCRIBE current approaches to classify serious safety events including the Serious Safety Event Rate methodology to measure safety performance; 3) DESCRIBE the anatomy of serious safety events and how to analyze them for common causes, OUTLINE approaches to reduce their frequency through error prevention, accountability systems, leadership methods and other relevant strategies; 4) DISCUSS the role of the Board, medical staff leadership, executive and operational leadership and staff/physicians in creating a safe day.
