Best Practices in Clinical Teaching: Facilitating Learners Metacognitive Skills

At the conclusion, the participant should be able to: DISCUSS strategies for enhancing traditional teaching behaviors (use of learning objectives, orienting the student, providing specific feedback, 5-microskills); DISCUSS ways traditional teaching strategies can be the foundation for implementing innovative teaching strategies that will facilitate the development of students’ability to assesses their performance, reflect on their needs, and decide what to do to optimize that performance; DESCRIBE strategies for using the metacognitive process to enhance their own clinical teaching skills. Questions and answers will allow for audience participation.
