Identifying and Preventing Academic and Non-Academic Difficulties in Third and Fourth Year Students
At the conclusion, the participant should be able to:
1) DESCRIBE common characteristics and factors related to learners in difficulty; 2) DISTINGUISH between knowledge deficits vs. behavioral issues for underperforming learners; 3) IDENTIFY students who may be at risk for psychological disorders such as anxiety or mood disorders; 4) IDENTIFY factors that indicate a student might be at risk for substance abuse; 5) EXPLAIN guidelines to follow upon realizing that a student is struggling for academic or non-academic reasons.
