Building Muscle in Perimenopause and Beyond
Menopause, Metabolic Health
Peri and post menopause are associated with accelerated loss of lean mass, strength and tendon resilience. This has recently been conceptualized as Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Menopause, emphasizing that declining estrogen affects muscle, bone, tendon and connective tissue simultaneously. As a consequence, providers see decreased lean muscle mass, increased visceral adiposity, reduced strength, higher injury risk and reduced capacity for recovery. This webinar will address muscle building in this age group, because it is not cosmetic; it is insurance and longevity for quality of life.
Objectives:
Discuss resistance training for the peri and post menopausal woman.
Outline protein and substrate recommendations.
Address medical blockers, hormone replacement therapy and GHRH/GH axis modulation.
Discuss evaluation, risks and benefits for mitochondrial peptides.
