t the conclusion, the participant should be able to:
1) DISCUSS the latest information and research on the epidemiology, risk factors, causes and prevention of strokes; 2) DESCRIBE the components of the focused neuro exam, importance of brevit and urgency in collecting data, and as well as the accuracy in describing assessment findings; 3) CORRELATE the signs of brain injury to the location of the lesion in the brain versus ruling out other causes or mimics of a stroke and DISCUSS the importance of obtaining good patient history (current and past); 4) DISCUSS a comprehensive understanding of stroke care, time line management for appropriate thrombolytic therapy, supportive care, prevention of medical complcations and rehabilitation; 5) PERFORM a focused neuro exam on a standardized normal individual and IDENTIFY appropriate and inappropriate methods of performing the exam; 6) DEMONSTRATE in a hands on session examination of three to four different standardized patients and CORRELATE the assessment findings to the type of stroke syndrome.
