Pediatric Feeding Development and Intervention

1. Describe typical feeding development from birth to 24 months- This would include key milestones across infant, transitional, texture-advancing, and toddler feeding stages while explaining the importance of early feeding skill acquisition for long-term developmental outcomes. 2. Provide ways to identify early red flags of Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) across oral-motor and swallowing, sensory, medical and growth, and caregiver domains. 3. Apply practical screening strategies and referral decision-making tools during routine pediatric visits to determine when and to whom referrals are appropriate. Keeping in the mind the consideration of access limitations commonly encountered in rural settings. 4. Recognize the importance of early, interdisciplinary intervention and community-based resources which include telehealth services and food insecurity supports. This will help to improve feeding outcomes for children and families in underserved and rural communities.
