FCOM 2025: Office-Based Surgery

This will be a presentation of the history of office-based surgery, reasons to put an OR in one's office, an overview of differing ways to put an OR in the office, and some of the details with regard to the state of Florida if one is to proceed. This will require a description of the levels of surgery as defined by the state of Florida, the four levels of anesthesia, and the process of registering with the state of Florida. 1. Describe the differences between an free standing ambulatory center and an office surgical center 2. List reasons why an office surgical suite can benefit both the surgeon and the patient 3. List credentialling methods to putting an OR in the office 4. Requirements by the state of Florida to provide a safe and legal OR in one's office
