ECMS Meeting: Architecture for Health

Architectural Design and Health

Health is the zeitgeist. Understanding how the built environment influences human health and behavior is more important than ever. Learn how research from psychology, neuroscience, and sociology can be used to add intentionality, inspire creative design solutions, build consensus, and optimize the allocation of resources to create architecture for health! No prior experience is required. This approachable session for clinicians and architects will cover the architectural and applied research design processes, including how to set goals, apply research, and utilize evaluations for unique insights. Join us to gain practical skills for impactful design solutions and align your voice with the prevailing health-conscious culture of today. ECMS CME Learning Objectives 1. Participants will learn about the architectural design process and that behavioral and health outcomes are inherent features. 2. Participants will examine the true meaning of health and how architecture can facilitate it in clinical and non-clinical spaces. 3. Participants will formulate a clear understanding of the value of interdisciplinary research and collaboration in architectural and interior design. 4. Participants will be able to consider the unique advantages and challenges of applying academic research and using pre-design and post-occupancy evaluations.
