1) REVIEW the pathophysiology of Sickle Cell Disease; 2) DESCRIBE the epidemiology and genetics; 3) INTERPRET newborn screening; 4) SUMMARIZE timeline of the disease; 5) IDENTIFY the pediatrician's role in health supervision; 6) DESCRIBE the acute complications and management; 7) DISCUSS the importance of hydroxyurea.
