The Eyes in Children

Objectives of the course is the following • To review basic eye examination techniques and instrumentation that every MD should be able to perform • Review important basic anatomy (3rd, 4th and 6th cranial nerves) • Show proper pupillary testing techniques and show examples of pupillary pathology • Discuss proper triage and treatment of ocular emergencies from a primary care standpoint • Review hyphema, orbital fractures and acute angle closure glaucoma • Discuss “red flag warnings” of ophthalmic symptoms References • Basic Ophthalmology (8th edition).
