PEDIATRIC GRAND ROUNDS - SHH AUDITORIUM - 08:00AM – Tuesday

The goal of the Grand Rounds at Sacred Heart Hospital is to examine current advances in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Distinguished experts are selected to address topics/objectives for the Grand Rounds at Sacred Heart Hospital.

These activities are Evidenced-based or Customary and Generally Accepted Medical Practice and are approved in part or in its entirety for evidence-based content. MECOP anticipates that physicians will be motivated to seek evidence-based CME as their patients come to expect them to practice evidence-based medicine. CME involves a process of identifying a learning need, developing an educational strategy for learning, implementing the strategy, and evaluating the effectiveness of the strategy. An evidence-based approach will help to ensure the validity of clinical content and thus improve the likelihood of a successful outcome to the educational intervention.

Overall Objectives: Through discussion, audiovisual presentation and case analysis, the participant should be able to evaluate, refer, identify, examine and provide guidelines that encourage improved techniques in the treatment of diseases intended to provide better patient outcomes and evidence-based guidelines or consensus viewpoint in preference to personal opinion. Open discussion and/or questions and answers will allow for audience participation. Specific objectives identified for each lecture.

Evaluation: The evaluations for these programs are designed to evaluate 1) program content, 2) speaker presentation and 3) audiovisuals. In addition, it is used as a tool for 4) needs assessment, 5) outcomes, 6) disclosure of any relationship that any of the speakers may have with a commercial provider and 7) presenter bias that may exist in his/her discussion of any commercial product or service.

Subject Matter: Primary Care: New Developments, Case Management & Alternate Therapies. These series conferences are designed in order that physicians may be able to 1) IDENTIFY key issues that confront the healthcare provider 2) focus on most current findings/recommendations for management of difficult situations 3) OFFER practical alternatives 4) SET objectives to improve patient care/outcomes.
